I had a great time at CCCU and thoroughly enjoyed my Marketing degree. I always felt supported by my lecturers and tutors and they never made me feel silly for asking for extra help. When I reflect on my degree course now, I always say how fun and engaging our assignments were. Being tasked with real life problems that marketers and businesses face. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

As well as the core modules, you may also have the opportunity to study a number of option modules in your second and third year. Option modules will not be pre-selected for you. We provide examples of option modules. The availability of specific option modules may vary from year to year. The offer of an option will be subject to a minimum number of students choosing the module to ensure the appropriate student experience. The offer of option modules may also be affected by staff availability. It means we cannot guarantee the availability of a particular optional module. However, we will ensure you have a choice of option modules.

    How you’ll learn

We are committed to your development as a skilled and inquiring student, ethically engaged with the world and its future, and aim to use a variety of methods and approaches tailored to your individual needs in order to achieve this. The modules in the first semester of your Foundation Year employ a mix of lectures, tutorials, and online material provided via our virtual learning environment (VLE), as well as student-centred workshops and learning exercises. This provides you with a wide range of differentiated activities, and plenty of regular 1:1 feedback and support throughout the first Semester. Building on this, teaching in the second semester uses also includes individual supervision specifically to support your ‘Individual Project’. Study on all these modules is supported by the Communication and Academic Skills for HE module. In this way, basic skills learned and developed in Semester 1 are integrated and further developed in Semester 2, with appropriate individualised support and scaffolding provided throughout. At the end of this process, you should be a more independent, self-confident learner ready to embark on degree level study in Year 1.

During the remainder of your degree, you will study modules to the value of 120 credits in each of Years 1, 2 and 3. Each module combines 50 hours of lecture and seminars with 150 hours of self-study time which you will use for reading, research and preparation and production of assessments.

All programmes are informed by the University’s Learning and Teaching Strategy 2015-2022.

Delivery of modules will typically consist of a two hour lecture and a two hour seminar per week for each of the six modules being studied each year. Blended learning is widely used to support both teaching and module support. If you choose to take Marketing with either Advertising, Tourism Studies or Business Management these modules will all be in the Business School. If you take another combination, your modules will be taken from other Schools and you will be taught by staff in those subject areas.

Most of our staff have experience as practitioners and are actively engaged in research and knowledge exchange projects, as well as consulting to commercial enterprises. Our team brings together academics from different parts of the world, with experience teaching in Europe and beyond. This allows us to provide teaching that is relevant to industry and informed by developments in academia and the wider business sphere.
