An interactive session exploring deception and how it can be detected during police interviews, including common myths and research backed methods.

In this one-hour masterclass with an academic and/or postgraduate ambassadors, students will first develop their understanding of the role of investigative interviews within the criminal justice system. Students will apply their knowledge to develop their understanding of what is meant by “deception” and how this may be detected during police interviews. Students will have the opportunity to critically examine common myths and researched methods around deception detection. This session supports the development of students’ critical thinking skills and their understanding of applied criminology and policing as HE and career options. 

The complexity of the content of this workshop is adapted to ensure age/stage appropriate delivery.
