In this workshop, students will build their oracy skills and confidence through a one-hour ethical debate, dynamic dialogue, or Change Maker oracy session.

In this interactive workshop, students will first work with the SCE team and student ambassadors to build their oracy skills and confidence through a one-hour ethical debate, dynamic dialogue, or Change Maker oracy session. They will then take part in a one-hour session with an academic and/or Postgraduate ambassadors where students will have opportunity to develop their understanding of the UK legal system in its broader social context, including the role of the justice system in rehabilitation. The discussion with the Law team can be structured around one of the following topics:

  • Intellectual Property and Generative AI
  • Race and the Law
  • Law Literature and Creative Media
  • International Justice and human Rights

The complexity of the explanation and content of this workshop is adapted to ensure age/stage appropriate delivery.

  • Sociology (key Stage 5/ Level 3) – Crime and deviance (crime control and prevention)
  • Interactive session developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills for research projects such as the FPQ, HPQ, EPQ, IBCP reflection, or BTEC Diploma projects.
  • English Language (Key Stage 4/ Level 2) – Spoken Language Endorsement (NEA)
