In this masterclass students will have the opportunity to train an industry-started Collab robot for moving between points or picking and placing objects.
Automation and the use of robotics within industry is designed to increase productivity and can improve quality. In these situations, “collaborative robotics” places robots alongside humans within the process where robots can take on repetitive tasks and quickly count, orientate and accurately place objects. In this one-hour masterclass with the support of academics and/or postgraduate ambassadors, students will have the opportunity to train an industry-started Collab robot for moving between points or picking and placing objects.
They will be encouraged to think beyond its manufacturing potential to develop their understanding of how this kind of collaborative robotics could support independent living and the completion of household activities. Students do not need to learn new programming to take part in this activity as the training model is based on simplified block functions.
