Are you ready for results day? Read our top tips for the day you've all been waiting for.

Finally! The day we’ve all been anxiously awaiting – results day. This year, the date is Thursday 14 August 2025. And if you’re in Scotland, it’s the 5 August 2025.

So many emotions fill this day: the excitement for your future; the fear of not getting the grades you’d hoped for. It’s a day that you’ll never forget.

There’s a lot to think about during results day. But don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. Here are a few practical tips to help you navigate the day, so you know what to do after you’ve opened your envelope.

1. Get prepared

Before you’ve even picked up the envelope, it’s best to have everything ready. This includes:

  • having your UCAS login details
  • having your mobile phone and your charger (just in case)
  • knowing if you have to send in your results or not.

2. Check your UCAS Hub

Check your UCAS Hub after 8am to see your application status. If it says 'placed', then a huge congratulations - you're in! You'll also receive a text message from us confirming your place.

If your offer hasn't been confirmed by this time, then you may need to send in your results to us (cue the next point).

3. Ask yourself: do I need to send my results?

Depending on which exam board your qualifications come under, you might have to send in your results to us.

UCAS has a list of exam results that they’ll send out automatically. So, if your results are on this list then UCAS will do all the work, which means that you won’t have to send anything in.

Whether you’re a Home or an International student, if you did the International Baccalaureate then UCAS will send your results to us too.

If your results aren’t on this list, then you’ll have to send them in to us. If you’ve done an Access course, you’ll have to send these in too.

Simply send in your results and certificates as soon as possible to our Admissions team. We’ll need to see your qualifications that you initially inputted in the ‘Education’ section of your UCAS application.

Whatever you do, don’t worry! If we don’t receive any expected results, we’ll send you an email. Or, feel free to call us on 01227 925 555 if you have any questions.

Don’t forget your GCSEs if these are a requirement for your course

If GCSEs are a requirement for your course, we'll need to see them too.

We know that GCSE results aren’t released until the 21 August. Simply send them in once you’ve received them.

If you’re an international student

The majority of international qualifications will most probably need to be sent in by you.

Simply email your results to our Admissions team.

4. Change of plan? Chat to us about Clearing!

If you’ve received results that you weren’t quite expecting, or you’ve simply changed your mind about which uni you want to go to, then you can start Clearing.

It’s super simple. All you have to do is directly apply to us. Then, once you have an offer, you can add this to your UCAS Hub. You’ll need your UCAS number and results to hand when you call us.

Read more about Clearing and call us on our hotline at 01227 926 000 when you’re ready.

We appreciate that your results day can be a rollercoaster of emotions. Our team are here to support you with any questions or concerns that you might have.

5. Get in touch

If your results don’t meet the requirements, then call us on 01227 926 000.

We might be able to help and reconsider after holistically reviewing your application. Alternatively, we might offer another course that your grades meet the requirements for.

If you'd like to defer your place then all you have to do is email our Admissions team and we'll reply with a confirmation.

Whatever your decision, our main aim is to support you and get you into uni on a course that you'll love.

6. Share your success on socials. And celebrate!

The bit we’ve all been waiting for – the celebrations! Getting into uni isn’t easy. But now you’re in, it’s time to share what you’ve achieved and relax! Enjoy your summer and get prepared for the next chapter.

A huge congratulations for what you’ve achieved! We can’t wait to see you in September.
