With travel to campus being so easy it is no wonder that many of our students live locally and make the decision to commute into uni.

At CCCU, we're dedicated to promoting sustainable travel. Our campuses are conveniently located near city and town centres, making it easy to get here by cycling or walking. Plus, we offer plenty of public transport discounts for bus and train travel.

Our network of campuses stretch across Kent and Medway and are easy to get to by foot, bike, train, bus or car. Find out how to travel to any of our campuses or centres

Try KentConnect - a journey planner to provide you with information tailored to you, so you can make the right choice on how best to get to campus.

For those planning to cycle in or run, there are cycle stands, lockers and showers across campus.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we encourage the use of public transport and cycling to campus through a range of discounts and facilities. Have a look at the discounts available on public transport.

You can easily get to our Canterbury Campus by walking, cycling, or taking a bus or train.

There is no student parking on Canterbury campus as we are in a city centre location but if you need to drive Park and Ride car parks are a good value, convenient and sustainable options.

And why not also consider car sharing with other commuters, to reduce your costs and impact on the environment as well as great way to meet people.

If you have a registered disability, and you are not able to use public transport or Park and Ride, you can apply for a paid parking permit - spaces are limited and cannot always be guaranteed.

Students who need to use our Polo Farm sports and teaching facilities, can park their car there.

You can walk, cycle, or catch a bus or train to Medway Campus or Tunbridge Wells Campus.

Students can apply for a parking permit that can be used to park a car at one of the CCCU car parks at the Medway and Tunbridge Well campuses.  Parking with a permit is on a first-come-first-served basis and so a permit does not always guarantee a space.

Spending time on campus

You may think that if you commute you might miss out on student life but there are lots of ways to get involved and feel part of our CCCU community.

As a commuting student, you will want to make the most of your time when on campus, meet up with friends and we are here to help:

  • Study Spaces - as well as the libraries there are a range of computer rooms and informal study spaces so you can keep up with your learning.
  • Social Spaces - from the SU Hub to Happy to Chat corners there are plenty of places for you to catch up with friends or just chill between lessons.
  • Food and Drink - from fresh barista-made coffee and the unbeatable 5 item breakfast, to smash burgers and loaded fries on the go, we have something for everyone.
  • Heat and Eat stations – check out these spaces with microwaves, hot water boiler, washing-up facilities, and vending machines for those who want to bring their own meals to campus.

I can promise you that just because you are someone who commutes to and from CCCU you will not be alone, you will be okay and you will find your feet. You may even find that uni ends up feeling like a home away from home, this is definitely something that I felt within my first year as a commuter and absolutely loved being on campus.
