Academic dress code

Part of the celebration is for all those who are taking part in the ceremony to be in Academic dress. Academic dress consists of a robe, hood and hat which together we call a ‘gown’, and is mandatory for those taking part in the ceremony. National dress may be worn.

Gowns can be hired via our preferred suppliers, Ede & Ravenscroft. Gown hire will close 15 working days prior to the ceremony. You can source your gown from elsewhere but please note that a student must be in the appropriate Canterbury Christ Church University gown for their level of study or they cannot participate in the procession.
