Canterbury Christ Church University has been ranked in the top 15 of the highly esteemed Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2023 International category.
The awards, which have been recognising universities for their accomplishments for the past 11 years, encompass 12 categories that cover various aspects of the student experience. Unlike other awards, the WUSCAs stand out as they are solely based on the opinions of students, with an astounding 35,000 reviews submitted each year by students.
Professor Annie Lu, Dean of International, expressed her delight at the University being placed 14th amongst UK universities and the recognition conferred upon the University by our own students. She said: “Receiving recognition from the students we serve is a source of immense pride for the University. Over the past four years the University has undergone rapid expansion in terms of international student recruitment and partnerships. Despite the challenges posed by Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic, the University has seen substantial growth in international enrolments, increasing from 200 to 1200. Thriving partnerships have been established and enhanced in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East. Throughout this period, the University has made concerted efforts to support international students in their transition, integration, academic pursuits, and overall wellbeing. Additionally, home students have benefited from funded opportunities to study abroad.
“According to new data from Universities UK, International students contributed over £40billion to the UK economy in 2021/22 and boosted our regional economy in the south east by £3.6 billion. They also enhance the reputation of UK universities, and support our University to become well-connected on a global scale, strengthening its ties with the rest of the world.”
