Understanding academic sources
In this module we’ll look at the elements that make up a resource, such as a journal, journal article or e-book. We’ll also talk about the difference between “primary” and “secondary” sources.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the different types of resource you will be using
- Appreciate the differences between our online resources (e-books, e-journals) and printed resources on the library shelves and why, where possible, it is a good idea to use both
- Understand the features that make them “academic”
- Differentiate between a primary and a secondary source
