Sage Research Methods supports research at all levels by providing material to guide you through every step of the research process. 

Sage Research Methods is the ultimate research methods library with more than 1000 books, reference works, journal articles, and instructional videos by world-leading academics from across the social sciences, including the largest collection of qualitative methods books available online from any scholarly publisher. The site is designed to guide users to the content they need to learn a little or a lot about their method. The Methods Map can help those less familiar with research methods to find the best technique to use in their research. 

    1. Go to LibrarySearch 

    2. Log in using your CCCU username and password. If you are away from campus, or connecting with your own device over Wi-Fi, you will need to include @canterbury.ac.uk after your CCCU username.

    3. Select Find Databases, then click on S, finally click on the link to Sage Research Methods to open it in a new tab.

Go to LibrarySearch and log in. You can get to LibrarySearch via the Library and Learning Resources web pages or the student website home page. On the LibrarySearch home page, click on ‘Find e-journals’ and go to ‘S’ in the alphabetical list. Find ‘Sage Research Methods’ and click on it. This should open the Sage Research Methods homepage. 

  • Search for the research method you are interested in.
  • Select 'Available to me' to see only content that CCCU subscribes to.
  • Use the Methods Map to browse terms and concepts - this can help you find the most appropriate research method(s) for your work.
  • You can also browse methods by discipline - this will show you the methods most commonly used in your subject area.
  • Use the Project Planner tool to guide yourself through each stage of your research project.
  • The Reading List function enables you to create lists of your favourite Sage Research Methods content and share them with others. You can also view other people's lists.

Search for NVIVO in the search box on the Sage Research Methods homepage. Note the different types of resources available. Apply a filter to only show results for videos.
