We are very proud of our positive outcomes for graduates of Canterbury Christ Church University graduating into public sector jobs.

HESA’s Graduate Outcomes data gives a sense of which providers nationally are particularly exposed to the public sector as a graduate destination.

CCCU is the Number 1 University for graduating into a public sector job within the Cathedrals Group of Universities. The Cathedrals Group of Universities is a group of fourteen universities across the UK.

In the latest data CCCU also ranks 16^th nationally of 400 campus-based universities (excluding the Open University).

This data is the latest released and relates to graduates entering work by provider by broad Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) by academic year of completion of studies. The academic Year 2021/22 in the data is those surveyed in 2023.

Top 20 university for graduates in employment

For the last three years, CCCU has been consistently in the Top 20 universities for graduates in employment. The latest data which refers to 2021-22 Potential Graduate Outcomes (related to 2024 graduates), see below.

All leavers (i.e. includes all levels, modes and domiciles)

92% of CCCU graduates were in work 15 months after finishing their course. This ranks us Top 10 (7th) among large English universities*.

Postgraduate leavers (all modes and domiciles)

98% of CCCU postgraduates were in work or further training 15 months after finishing their course. This ranks us Top 10 (8th) among large UK universities*

74% of CCCU UK-domiciled, full-time undergraduates who were in employment, were in high-skilled work 15 months after finishing their course. This ranks us in the top half of large UK universities*

32,000 more teachers

As far back as 2018, 32,710 trainee teachers were recruited – up by 815 (3%) on the previous year. This generation of teachers is better qualified than ever: 98.7% of all teachers have a degree or higher, which has risen by 4.4 percentage points since 2010, and nearly one in five trainees as of 2018 had a first-class degree. Recruitment to the profession is still a priority for the UK.

15,000 more paramedics

The NHS Workforce Plan identifies the need to increase the paramedic workforce by around 14,200 – 15,600 over the next 15 years and offers several opportunities for the paramedic profession.

91,000 more R&D Professionals

91,000 more Research & Development Professionals, in areas such as biosciences and engineering. Overall expansion in terms of number of people likely to be employed by 2027 (vs 2017) is 91,400. The report also flags how many new R&D professionals will be needed to replace those who leaving the industry (i.e. retirement), which takes the figure to 381,800.

300,000 cyber security specialists

The UK has a large workforce specialising in this area, with over 300,000 professionals employed in cyber security in 2021.

173,000 more engineers

Overall, the occupations of the engineering footprint are projected to grow by a further 2.8% by 2030, adding 173,000 net new jobs. This represents a faster rate of growth than that projected for the national average of all occupations (2.3%).

2.3 million financial service experts

There are more than 2.3 million jobs in the sector – 1.1 million in financial services and just over 1.2 million in related professional services.
