An exhibition of printmaking from East Kent Schools Together.

The Print Pilgrimage project uses printmaking to make physical and ideological links between partners and explores the diversity of the students’ backgrounds and histories.

The project explored a range of starting points, including the traditions of religious pilgrimages, the work of artists who have explored this theme, and questions that Pilgrims may contemplate on their journeys. Secondary school students from across the EKST partnership made “pilgrimages” to other member schools to explore their personal journeys in whatever shape or form, learn from others, collaborate creatively, and hear from expert facilitators.

Printmaking workshops took place over a number of months across the partnership schools in 2024, enabling partners to share resources and knowledge, and provide students from different backgrounds with an opportunity to meet on an equal footing.

The artists produced work using printmaking techniques they had explored throughout this project: monoprints, collagraphs, linocuts, photograms and mixed media pieces.

The Print Pilgrimage exhibition showcases the uniqueness and individuality of each student artist’s response to the concept of what pilgrimage means to them.
