This feature allows you to provide users with downloadable PDFs – for example, important documents that they might want their own copy of, a programme or brochure. Please note that only PDF files can be used with this tool.

An example of a File Download component

Sometimes it's not possible to display all the content you need to on a web page, or you simply want to provide supplementary information to web users. This is where download file PDFs come in handy.

They sit on the right-hand side of a page under a 'Downloads' heading once added to the Sidebar content and look like this on a live site:

To add a PDF, you can either select one from the existing Contensis asset library, or upload one directly to the tool by clicking on the ‘Upload’ link. You can add multiple PDFs to the component.

Please ensure that your PDF has a sensible filename before uploading it as this both looks better on the website, and makes it more searchable within the asset library.

If you need to remove a PDF, simply click on the three dots on the right hand side of the entry in Contensis. You can also move that entry via this menu and download it - for example, to check it's the correct document.

The Downloadable PDFs component looks like this in Contensis:

Component in action

You can move the Download PDFs component up or down in the Sidebar Content to change its position on the live page before publishing.

As ever, you can use the preview function to check your changes prior to setting it live. You can find a File download component in action here.
