Looking to the future, we are fully committed to achieving our Vision 2030 ambitions – to deliver educational excellence and improve the student experience, to strengthen our research enterprise and innovation, and to improve the staff experience.

Professor Rama Thirunamachandran

Vice-Chancellor

First of all, I would like to say thank you to everyone who is a part of Canterbury Christ Church University – staff, students and partners – you are what makes our University such a uniquely valuable place. There is no doubt that higher education is facing a challenging environment at the moment, and we are not immune to the national and international climate of inflation, cost-of-living rises, and changes in student recruitment. However, as always it is our people, and the incredible work they do, that continues to give us so much to celebrate as we look back over the past academic year.

These successes include celebrating our strongest-ever performance in Research England’s Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF), recognising our meaningful research and public engagement partnerships; hosting our first-ever Equity and Inclusion conference and achieving a Bronze Athena Swan award for our commitment to gender equity; establishing our dynamic new branding across the University, reflecting our energy and ambitions; and launching our first Futures Day, building a community of supporters to help us transform lives. But there is so much more. Please explore the pages below to get the full story of our community’s exceptional achievements over the last year.

Looking to the future, we are fully committed to achieving our Vision 2030 ambitions – to deliver educational excellence and improve the student experience, to strengthen our research enterprise and innovation, and to improve the staff experience. What is vital in this effort is that we stay true to ourselves as an institution, because our values are most important when the challenge is greatest. We will continue to be guided by our values in the challenges ahead, meeting them with courage, compassion, innovation and creativity, together.

Enhancing the Student Experience

We made significant improvements to our student life, with an 81% positivity score in the NSS and ranking first for career prospects in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards in our region.

Our commitment to enhancing the student campus experience included a new Students’ Union Hub, a Multi-Use Games Area, and upgraded Sports Centre.

We also proudly launched our first-ever Futures Day, a 36-hour event packed with activities for students, staff, alumni, and the community, raising funds to support students through the Futures Fund and Scholarships.
