We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Professional Nursing Midwifery Advocate (PNMA) course at Canterbury Christ Church University.
The PNMA course is a 12 - 16 week course that is delivered virtually, with additional directed study days. The lecturers delivering the course are all professional advocates who will provide you with the knowledge to become a Professional Nursing Advocate (PNA) or Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA). You will study whilst facilitating restorative clinical supervision (RCS) to support your colleagues in a fast paced and high acuity settings. You will also explore the quality improvement agenda and how to support and develop this by compassionate leadership models. There is an emphasis on supporting nurses and midwives in practice and building resilience using RCS, demonstrating the importance of having a safe and confidential space which allows time to reflect and make sense of the workplace issues and challenges. You will develop skills to advocate for colleagues, for patients and for the nursing/midwifery professions.
Within the leadership sessions, you will consider how compassionate leadership promote effective teams and collaborative practice. By the promotion of professional development such as supporting the process of revalidation, the course will encourage an ethos of autonomy, belonging and contribution through learning and understanding the need to be involved in and promote QI initiatives.
You must have a BSc in any nursing, midwifery or mental health fields leading to NMC registration. Applicants must have a current NMC registration.
