Guaranteed accommodation for Clearing applicants in 2018

Accommodation

We know how important it is for you to know where you'll live while at university. That's why we're offering an accommodation guarantee* to students offered a place through Clearing. That's one less thing to worry about and one more reason to join us!

*Accommodation guarantee for Clearing applicants

If you apply for a course through Clearing at our Canterbury campus, and are made an offer or accept an interview (from Monday 2 July to Saturday 18 August), you will be guaranteed a place in university student accommodation, providing:

  • you refer yourself via UCAS Track by Monday 20 August, or 2 days after your interview

and

  • submit your online accommodation application by Friday 25 August or 4 days after your interview. You will be able to apply within 24 hours of your UCAS status changing to UF (Unconditional Firm).

If you're applying for a course at Medway, please also apply online and we will contact the private provider to see what rooms they have available, or assist you in finding a room in the private sector.

How to apply for university managed accommodation

  1. You can only make an application when you have accepted a course offer through Clearing.
  2. You will be able to apply within 24 hours of your UCAS status changing to UF (Unconditional Firm).
  3. Accommodation is allocated in order of when you applied for it.
  4. You’ll need to confirm your place quickly in order to apply for a room and to get the best choice available.

FAQs

We'll allocate you a room within a day. You will receive your accommodation offer by email.

To accept your accommodation offer, you will need to:

  • Accept your offer and agree to the accommodation licence (contract) using the accommodation portal before your deadline date.

and

  • Pay the £250 pre-payment fee online during the acceptance process and set up a payment plan for 3 instalments to be paid in September, January and May - giving email contact details of a guarantor for your booking.

or

  • Pay all accommodation fees in full* before the start of the first term.

After you have done this, you'll receive an online induction and your check-in details.

*If you pay your full accommodation fees for the whole year before the start of the first term in September, or within 14 days of arrival, we will give you a £250 bonus for Catering and Food Court Services which will be added to your student card and split into 3 instalments across the year.

We have both en-suite bedrooms and bedrooms where you share a bathroom with other students.

If we offer you a room with a shared bathroom, we advise that you accept the offer. You can contact us nearer your move in day to see if a room change is possible or to be added to a waiting list for an en-suite room.

Visit our accommodation pages to view the accommodation available.

We will also have a sample Show Room available to view at the Clearing Open Day.

If you submit your accommodation application after 25 August, don't worry because we’ll still help you find accommodation in Canterbury. Last year we offered all applicants, even those who applied throughout late September and October, either a university room or we helped them find a room in Canterbury. You can apply using our accommodation portal.
