Wellbeing and Getting Started with Exercise
The University offers a variety of free opportunities to get started with fitness and exercise. Being active is great for your overall health, with evidence showing that it can also greatly improve your mental wellbeing.
Couch to 5K
If you don’t already run, it doesn’t mean you can’t start! The University’s Couch to 5K programme provides the perfect opportunity for students to start working towards a new healthier lifestyle, with programmes throughout the year led by experienced run-leaders. Our Couch to 5k gently increases your fitness levels over a ten week period, ending with a local 5 kilometre event.
All runs start from a central Canterbury campus location on weekday afternoons. Each run lasts for approximately 30-40 minutes.

Get up & Go!
Take a break from the books with our bijou fitness area, located on the first floor of Augustine House. Consisting of three Trixter exercise bikes, a yoga mat and a foam roller - offering students the opportunity to give their mind a rest and go back to studying feeling refreshed and refocused. Exercise is a great way to get you away from a computer screen; ride a bike, have a stretch or mediate, what you do is up to you!
More information, including an instructional video for the exercise bikes is available here.
Christ Church University has it’s own Running Club, the Christ Church Runners.
