Students’ Union sports and societies

A great way to make friends and get involved at uni is to have something in common. That could be musical taste, sharing a faith, playing sport or just a way of life.

Coming to university isn’t just about getting qualifications. It’s also about having fun, trying something new and making friends. Joining a sports club or society is a great way to do this - no matter what year or stage of the university you’re at.

Sports clubs

We have over 30 different sports clubs in the Students’ Union, covering everything from American football and rugby to climbing and equestrian.

Most sports clubs also compete in BUCS (British University and Colleges Sport), and local competitions.

There are loads of sporting opportunities available through Christ Church Sport and Active Health.

Societies

There are over 50 societies to choose from - whether you’re interested in politics, arts, games, the environment or your subject area, there’s something for everyone.

But if you can’t find the right society for you, why not form your own? Start off by chatting to the  Student Union President (Student Activities)  and they’ll run you through  the process  and answer any questions you’ve got.

Canterbury Community Gospel Choir

Canterbury Community Gospel Choir (CCGC) is an award winning group who started in 2005. They are from all faith backgrounds and no faith backgrounds and come together for the joy of the music, singing gospel new and old in venues throughout the country.

The choir is an opportunity for to meet new friends, better your singing ability and have a break from university work to relax and have fun. They meet in Anselm Chapel every Wednesday at 7pm during term time, plus there are no auditions and it's free to join.

If you’re interested in being part of the choir you can follow them and send them a message us on Instagram, @christchurchgospel, and one of their members will speak to you and give you all the info you need!
