Most courses are structured in line with one of four different academic calendars. This simply means that similar types of courses share the same key dates, e.g. welcome and induction, teaching weeks, holidays and end-of-module examinations/assessments periods.
The academic calendar for your course depends on a number of factors, including whether you are Undergraduate or Postgraduate, if your course includes placements, whether you are an Apprentice and so on.
If you're a current student, you'll find your academic calendar listed in MyRecord under 'My Details' then 'Your Course Details' or if you're still unsure please contact your course team.
If you're a new student, you will be able to check what calendar your course is on in the lead-up to your arrival.
Most Undergraduate courses follow the University’s ‘Semesters’ calendar.
On this academic calendar, each year of study is divided into two blocks of 15 weeks. The 15 weeks include 12 weeks of learning & teaching, one study week and a two-week period for end-of-Semester assessments/examinations.
