Mrs Nicky Leatherbarrow

Section Director for Management and Organisation

Christ Church Business School

I joined CCCU in 2005 and I am Section Director for Management and Organisation. I am also a Principal Lecturer in Finance and Accounting.

I am Section Director for Management and Organisation in Christ Church Business School and have overall responsibility for all the undergraduate academic courses in this Section. I am also a Principal Lecturer in Finance and Accounting with a specific focus on Corporate Financial Management.

I have an MBA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from Nottingham Trent University, a BSc (Hons) in Managerial and Administrative Studies from Aston University Business School and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching from Canterbury Christ Church University. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I joined Christ Church Business School in 2005 as a sessional member of staff and have enjoyed a variety of roles throughout my career at CCCU. Prior to joining the Business School I spent 15 years in business in the pub retailing and brewing industry. My career included roles for national and regional companies latterly with senior management responsibility for the Managed House department for Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewer based in Kent. I draw on this experience to bring my teaching to life and ensure that it is relevant, up to date and embedded in the 'real world'.

My teaching is in Accounting and Finance with specific expertise in Management Accounting and Corporate Financial Management at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

My research interests are centred on business education, the relationship between businesses and Business Schools and how these two types of organisation can work together to their mutual benefit. I am also currently carrying out research on assessment and feedback and students perceptions as to the value of feedback.

I have been a Governor at St Edmunds School in Canterbury for more than 12 years and am Chair of their Finance and General Purposes Committee.
