I am a Reader in Cardiovascular Physiology at Canterbury Christ Church University and Registered Clinical Scientist in Cardiology. I have a keen research interest in the role of cardiac imaging, in particular the use of stress echocardiography in a range of clinical disease states including ischaemic heart disease, heart failure, hypertension as well as valvular heart disease. My recent work has focused on how cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology can be incorporated into the clinical practice of echocardiography.
I have successfully secured industry and research council funding for >£500,000 to investigate the role of artificial intelligence in the risk stratification and identification of heart disease in patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure, and the role of exercise (isometric exercise training) for the treatment of high blood pressure. A current project is investigating the role of isometric exercise training in participants with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
