Self-help Guide on Depression and Low Mood

The aim of this guide is to give you techniques on how to cope if you are feeling low and feel it is getting in the way of your life and studies. And this guide will tell you more about stress and help you see if stress is a problem for you. It makes simple suggestions about how to manage stress and what other help may be available.

Mental Wellbeing Team

Our Mental Wellbeing Team have a range of services they can offer including self-help resources and techniques to help with anxiety, stress and depression. They can also refer individuals where appropriate for counselling both within the University and externally. 

24/7 support with Spectrum.Life

In partnership with the Mental Wellbeing Team, Spectrum.Life will offer students immediate online, text and telephone support from qualified professionals. You can talk to them about anything, including stress, anxiety, low mood, financial worries, loss and grief, relationship difficulties, substance abuse issues and much more. They will work with you in getting initial help and liaise with the Mental Wellbeing Team for ongoing support.

Chaplaincy

The University Chaplains offer a confidential listening service in a safe space where you can talk through any problems in a non-judgmental environment.

Chooseday Chill

Chooseday Chill at Augustine House 5-7pm takes place every Tuesday and aims to help bring calm into your life. Come along and take time out over some comforting tea and toast or relax with some friends over some board games. Student Support are also on hand if you need to chat to someone.
