London School of Commerce (LSC) Graduation FAQs
All eligible students from our partner university London School of Commerce will be invited to their Graduation in February or October at Rochester Cathedral. Each course has an allocated ceremony and therefore it is not possible for you to choose or attend a ceremony on a different date.
If you cannot attend on the allocated date, you may choose to defer/postpone your graduation by responding ‘defer/postpone’ in My Record when you RSVP. However, you will not be able to choose the new graduation date and will be assigned to the next available ceremony with space, at the discretion of the Graduation Team. This may be in the following academic year due to capacity.
Deferrals/Postponement
- Students may request to defer/postpone their graduation only after they have been invited to graduate.
- Students are only permitted one opportunity to defer/postpone their graduation.
- Any student who does not attend their graduation for whatever reason is admitted to their award in absentia.
The precise date of your Graduation will be confirmed upon invitation, approximately 8 weeks before the event. The official invitation is sent via email (using the student’s personal and CCCU email address) approximately 8 weeks before the event.
Ceremony times will be confirmed after the closing date for RSVP.
As the recipient of an award, you do not need to pay to attend your Graduation Ceremony however, every guest attending the Cathedral Ceremony must hold a ticket. You are guaranteed two guest tickets to attend the ceremony providing you RSVP and purchase guest tickets before the RSVP deadline.
Guest Tickets are priced at £22 per person.
All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable and cannot be sold on. Payment for tickets can only be made via our online payment facility, which you will be prompted to visit when you RSVP and purchase tickets via E-Vision in MyRecord.
Due to our health and safety requirements, this includes babies and children. Child on lap tickets (for children aged 4 and under) are free of charge (children aged 4 years and under must be kept on a guest’s knee for the duration of the ceremony). Children aged 5 and over will require a standard guest ticket.
Something to consider:
The Ceremony lasts approximately 1 hour.
If your child becomes unsettled during the Ceremony, our staff will be on hand to support you to find a quite space outside of the Cathedral for a short while. We appreciate your help in ensuring a comfortable experience for all our graduating students and their guests.
Please note you must RSVP to attend your Graduation Ceremony and purchase your guest tickets before the RSVP closing date. Guest tickets cannot be purchased once the RSVP deadline has passed.
I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY GRADUATION/AWARD CEREMONY INVITATION
Invitations are sent out by email, eight weeks prior to the ceremony to your personal email address, as held in MyRecord at the time of sending.
You must submit your RSVP response and payment for guest tickets via MyRecord prior to the closing date to be able to graduate/attend your graduation. The closing date for RSVPs is clearly stated on the email invitation and online. The following may affect whether you have received an invitation or not:
- Do we have the correct details of your personal email?
- Have you been signed off by the board of examiners yet?
- Do you have any outstanding payments or financial issues?
- Do you have any outstanding health, disclosure and barring service checks or qualification checks?
Please email the i-zone, the student information service, if you have not received your invitation eight weeks before the date you expect to graduate. Please provide your CCCU student ID number when you contact them.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GO THROUGH REASSESSMENT OR IF MY RESULTS ARE CONFIRMED TOO LATE? CAN I STILL GRADUATE WITH MY COHORT?
If you complete your course too late to be invited to the Graduation Ceremony, you will automatically be invited to the next appropriate Graduation ceremony. The Graduation Office will be notified of your successful completion and will contact you via email (using the student’s personal email address) approximately 8 weeks before the event.
WILL I GET A CONFIRMATION FOR THE TICKETS I’VE PURCHASED?
The confirmation email will confirm your attendance at the ceremony, the ceremony time, and the total number of guest tickets you have purchased in the initial purchasing period. The email will also contain further details regarding the availability of additional tickets and the dates that these will go on sale (if available). We strongly advise that no travel or accommodation arrangements are made prior to receiving your RSVP confirmation email, which is emailed approx. one week after the RSVP deadline.

ARE GUEST SEATS ALLOCATED FOR THE GRADUATION CEREMONY?
We do not allocate guest seats for ceremonies. Once the doors open for the ceremony, guests may choose where to sit.
Most of the seats in the nave of the Cathedral have a view of the presentation area, but some have a restricted view. We regret that we cannot guarantee that you will have a full view of the proceedings. However, plasma screens will be erected on each of the pillars throughout the Cathedral showing the live stream of the ceremony.
HOW DO I TELL YOU IF I, OR MY GUEST(S), HAVE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS?
If you (student) require any special arrangements to enable you to attend your Graduation Ceremony, please ensure you email LSC Student Welfare rabindra.shrestha@lsc.co.uk as detailed in MyRecord.
If you have a guest that needs special arrangements, please email the i-zone, the student information service. Please provide your CCCU student ID number when you contact them.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY GRADUATION/AWARD CEREMONY
Academic dress (consisting of robe, hood and hat which together we call a ‘gown’) is mandatory for those taking part in the ceremony. A student must wear a Canterbury Christ Church University gown appropriate to the level of qualification for which they are being presented, even if the student already holds a higher qualification. National dress may be worn underneath the gown.
Gowns can be hired via our preferred suppliers, Ede & Ravenscroft. It is important to note Ede & Ravenscroft require 15 days’ notice to hire a gown so order yours in plenty of time. You can source your gown from elsewhere but please note that a student arriving in inappropriate academic dress or not gowned will be unable to join the procession and will not be presented for their award during the ceremony.
View Ede and Ravenscroft’s website and order your graduation gown here.
If you need to get in contact with them, please contact their customer service department at Ede and Ravenscroft - contact us.
WHERE CAN I PARK ON THE DAY?
There is no parking provided by the university and we would encourage guests to use the various parking facilities available in the city centre, including park & ride.
More information can be found here Medway Parking
MY GUESTS NEED TO APPLY FOR A VISA TO ATTEND MY GRADUATION CEREMONY – CAN YOU HELP?
The University is unable to provide specific letters for international travel.
For visa purposes and proof of travel, students typically use the official invitation that is sent to them eight weeks prior to the event. You can also use a copy of your confirmation email that you will receive when you book your graduation tickets.
There is no other official paperwork issued by CCCU with regards to Graduation.
WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY IF I ARRIVE LATE?
It is important that you adhere to your graduation timetable and arrive in good time to check-in at the registration desk to ensure that you can take part in your ceremony and have your name read out. Unfortunately, late arrivals cannot be accommodated. If you do not arrive on time, you will miss the ceremony, and your name will not be read out. You will subsequently be offered a deferral/postponement to a future graduation date.
You will not be able to choose the new graduation date and will be assigned to the next available ceremony with space, at the discretion of the Graduation Team.
Please be aware that you may receive an SMS message from sender CCCUni 24-hours prior to your ceremony detailing important information. This will serve as a reminder of when you need to ‘register to check-in’.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY CERTIFCATE?
Your certificate will be posted to your correspondence address as stated in MyRecord at the time of sending, so please ensure you keep your contact details up-to-date even after you have completed your studies. You should expect to receive your certificate approximately 15 weeks from your award date.
If you have any questions regarding your certificate or transcript you can email the i-zone, the student information service. Please provide your CCCU student ID number when you contact them.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY TRANSCRIPT OR HEAR?
After you have been sent your final results email, you will be sent an email to your personal account with details on how to access your Transcript (HEAR) through one of our partner organisations, Gradintelligence. This will be sent within 8 weeks of you receiving your results. For this reason, it is important to ensure that you keep your contact details in MyRecord up to date. You can find more information on Gradintelligence here
