Canterbury Campus Applicant Day FAQs

Your opportunity to come and visit our campus located in the historic city of Canterbury.

Who is the applicant event for?

Applicant events are invite-only, exclusively designed for those who have been made an offer of a place. Once you've received your offer, you’ll be invited via email, and you can select your preferred date.

The event does not include the following courses: Business and Management Foundation Degree, Childhood Studies (Foundation Degree and Top-up), Commercial Music, Counselling, Coaching & Mentoring, Creative Music Technology, Early Childhood Education and Care Foundation Degree, Mathematics with Secondary Education, Multimedia Journalism, Music BMus, Music Production, Physical Education and Physical Activity (Foundation Degree and Top-up), Primary Education, QTS School Based. Applicants for these subjects are invited to separate interview days.

Preparing for the day

Do I have to book to attend an applicant event?

Yes please, then we can send you an applicant event programme and other important information in advance of your visit, along with a QR code which you will need to bring with you on the day. This will help you to plan your day before you arrive.

Will I be sent confirmation when I have booked?

We will we send you an email confirmation message when you book online. 

What happens next?

Approximately one week before the applicant event, we will send you an email plus an applicant event information pack in the post. If you book after this time further information will be posted to you as soon as possible. Shortly before the applicant event we will stop posting information packs and instead send emails only. You will still be able to collect a hard copy of the programme and other information when you arrive.

Can I bring family and/or friends?

Of course! You are very welcome to bring parents, family and/or friends with you to the applicant event. When you book online you will be asked how many other visitors will be coming with you – please complete this as it helps with our planning.

Can I change the number of places I've booked?

Yes. We only ask how many people you will be bringing to give us a rough idea of numbers. You can change this if your situation changes and you do not need to let us know in advance.

Where can I park?

There is no parking on campus so we encourage visitors to use the Park and Ride, city centre car parks or public transport.

Park and Ride

There are three Park and Ride sites located around the city, with regular bus services to the city centre bus station.

Park and Ride costs £3 per day for a car and up to six people. This allows you to travel across the city on all three Park and Ride routes.

  • New Dover Road (CT1 3EJ)
  • Sturry Road (CT1 1AD)
  • Wincheap (Ten Perch Road, CT1 3TY)

Pay and Display

The nearest pay and display car parks are:

  • Longport (postcode for sat nav CT1 1TU)
  • Queningate (CT1 2HU)
  • Holman’s Meadow (CT1 3JB)
  • Watling Street (CT1 2UD)
  • Whitefriars Multi-Storey (CT1 2TF).

I have a problem with mobility, can I park on campus?

There are a limited number of designated parking spaces on North Holmes campus for visitors displaying blue badges. These are available on a first-come, first served basis and unfortunately we can’t reserve these spaces.

Is the University close to the bus station?

The bus station is a ten minute walk from the North Holmes Campus and five minutes from Augustine House.

Is the University close to the train station?

The North Holmes Campus is a 15 minute walk from both train stations – Canterbury East and Canterbury West. Augustine House is a five minute walk from Canterbury East. There are taxi ranks at both stations. 

On the day

What time does the applicant event start and finish?

Timings vary depending on the day you choose to visit, so please check the booking form. However, you can arrive and leave when you want - it’s best to use your applicant event programme to plan your day around what you want to find out and to ensure you don’t miss anything.

Do I need to check-in?

Yes please, although this doesn’t have to be on your arrival. If you know what you want to see and where you need to go you can go straight there. All we ask is that you hand in the letter with your personal QR code at one of the Welcome Desks at some point during the day.

If you didn’t receive a QR code in the post please visit one of the Welcome Desks to register.

Welcome Desks will be located in Augustine House and The Old Sessions House.

What if I have applied for more than one course at Canterbury Christ Church University?

Our courses for the applicant event are designed for both single and combined honours.

What should I do if I miss the applicant event?

If you miss or you are unable to attend your applicant event, don't worry, there are more opportunities to visit our campus at our open days.
