Padlet Accessibility Statement

Padlet is an online collaboration tool that is a commercial product designed and developed by Wallwisher in accordance with internationally recognised Web Content Accessibility guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. Padlet is currently Level A and the aim is to reach Level AA by the end of 2024. The site is run by Wallwisher on behalf of Canterbury Christ Church University. We want as many people as possible to use this site so within the ‘native’ Padlet interface* you should be able to:

  • Use accessibility tools to change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • Zoom in up to 200% without text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate Padlets, the homepage and dashboard using just a keyboard
  • Listen to most of the site using a screen reader (such as the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).

*Please note that content uploaded to Padlet is created by a variety of users and technologies, and as such cannot be guaranteed to meet all of these requirements.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use for specific needs.

How accessible is Padlet?

Since this accessibility statement was first published the following improvements to accessibility have been made:

  • Individual Padlets are now fully keyboard navigable, with convenient shortcuts for quick content creation.
  • Images uploaded by users can now have alt text applied.
  • Landmarks have been added for easier navigation using screen readers and links and buttons are properly labelled.

Wallwisher keep their own accessibility statement on Padlet which they will continue to revise as the product is developed.

Technical information about Padlet's accessibility

Canterbury Christ Church University is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Padlet is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 Level A standard, and is aiming to be compliant with Level AA by the end of 2024.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with accessibility regulations

Content in Padlet is uploaded by a wide range of users. It is not possible to confirm that all content is fully accessible. We have a programme of staff development to ensure staff make their materials compliant.

How we tested Padlet

Wallwisher have been undertaking their own testing of Padlet which began in May 2020 and are currently in the process of developing for WCAG 2.2 AA standards. CCCU are being kept updated.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

The University continues to work closely with Wallwisher to monitor accessibility and make improvements as required.

Content publishers are provided with training to show them how to create accessible content. This should address issues with future in-accessible content being created, and help them to understand what changes need to be made to existing content to make it more accessible.

Preparation of this accessibility statement
