The course will aim to combine an understanding of current education theory and research with previous teaching practice and experience.
Teaching will be based on a blended learning approach. Teachers in the primary phase will receive six whole day seminars. This will be supported by self-study materials accessed using the University VLE system.
Teachers in the secondary phase will receive three whole day seminars and three half-day seminars. Materials to support the self-study element ‘Subject Knowledge Enhancement’ will be provided online using the University VLE system. Teachers of subjects for which the university runs Subject Knowledge Enhancement Programmes (mathematics, physics, chemistry, computing, French, German and Spanish) will make wide use of these well-established online materials.
Additional personal study time is required for observing others teach, your own teaching practice, reading and to engage with self-study materials.
