Periodic Departmental Review

The function of Periodic Departmental Review is to provide a means by which:

  • departmental and programme groups, and the units responsible for professional support services, in collaboration with representative members of the wider University community, review the quality of their provision and their progress towards the achievement of their published statements of purpose;
  • the University is able to audit the implementation of its policies and strategies for achieving its Mission, in the context of the work of academic departments and their service units;
  • in the case of academic departments, the University can assure itself that programmes are running appropriately, and confirm formally the re-validation of its programmes.

For more detailed guidance on the Periodic Departmental Review process, please refer to the Periodic Departmental Review Guidance document.

Please note that the process of Periodic Departmental Review was renamed from Internal Review in 2009/10.
