International conference focuses on suicide prevention

Canterbury Christ Church University is holding an international conference to provide academics and experts by experience from around the world an opportunity to share and explore their current research on the important area of suicide prevention.
Critical Suicidology, co-organised by Dr Ian Marsh a Senior Lecturer in the School of Allied Health at Canterbury Christ Church University, and Annie Hayford, Faculty of Health and Wellbeing PhD student, aims to challenge assumptions, emphasise the importance of the context of suicide, value the perspectives of a variety of individuals and critique current practices used to prevent suicide.
The conference, which is taking place between 28 June and 1 July, will see 41 academics from 14 countries present their research from a vast range of disciplines including, sociology, political theory, public health, mental health, philosophy and many more.
