After the success of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth, Play On Words Theatre presents an atmospheric, outdoor, one-hour performance of Shakespeare’s classic Twelfth Night, performed against the backdrop of our picturesque pond on the North Holmes Road campus. An Easter treat, A Play by the Pond is an electric, enthralling experience, ensconced in its site-specific location.

Produced by Kent-based professional theatre company Play on Words, in association with the Anselm Theatre Company and students from CCCU's Performing Arts suite of courses. Presenting the directorial debut of L6 student Charlie Atkinson under the mentorship of Play on Words directors Miriam & Aidan Dooley. Designed by James Frost.’

Step into the enchanting world of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," where love, laughter, and mistaken identities collide in a delightful comedic tapestry. Set in the whimsical land of Illyria, this timeless play weaves a tale of shipwrecks, disguises, and the unpredictable twists of fate. The captivating characters, from the lovelorn Viola to the absurdly humorous Sir Toby Belch, come together in a dazzling display of wit and charm. As the lines between reality and illusion blur, audiences are treated to a celebration of love's folly and the triumph of true connection. Join us on a journey where music, mirth, and the magic of Shakespeare's words intertwine to create a night of theatrical splendour. "Twelfth Night" promises an unforgettable experience that will leave you both smiling and pondering the unpredictable nature of love.

This production is supported by the School of Creative Arts and Industries.
