Local communities online

Do you live in Herne Bay, Whitstable or Canterbury (CT1, CT2, CT5 or CT6 postcode)? Do you use social media or other online sources to find information or news about your local community? If yes, please participate in our study and you will receive £50 Love to shop voucher for taking part (terms and conditions apply).

We are looking for participants to study how people access and use local news and information online. Your participation in the research will involve three steps:

  1. You will first be asked to tell us about to what extent and how you use online sources to find out news and information about local community
  2. We will ask you to keep an online diary for a total of 21 days over a four-month period about your daily experiences with online news and information about your local community
  3. Finally, we will ask you a few questions about your views on online local news and information

If you are interested to participate in the study, please contact localnewsproject@canterbury.ac.uk

This research, funded by a HEIF grant, is led by Dr Agnes Gulyas School of Media, Art and Design, Canterbury Christ Church University. We are grateful for our project partners, Canterbury and Herne Bay Volunteer Centre, Canterbury City Council, the KM Group and ESRI UK for supporting the study.
