If you already enjoy reading and interpreting poetry or are a beginner who feels daunted by idea of even reading a poem, this course is for you.
We shall explore some of the most celebrated poems in the English
language as well as some lesser known ones and will read them with attention to their musicality, their contextual and historical setting and explore how some poems reflect or engage with earlier works, often in surprising ways.
Among the poems we shall study will be works by Keats, Robert Frost, Yeats, Auden Heaney, Plath, Elizabeth Bishop, Jacob Polley and Daljit Nagra.
Come and enjoy a whole day’s encounter with poetry in an open and friendly class setting.
