‘There are no foreign lands. It is the traveller only who is foreign.’ -
Robert Louis Stevenson
This one day workshop will look at travel writing from a historical
as well as a practical perspective, taking you on a journey through
the ancient souks of Marrakesh, the prairies of the Midwest and the
hill towns of Tuscany and revealing tales of adventure, exploration,
heroism and sometimes hardship. We will meander across the continents using written accounts such as diaries, letters essays, travel reports and walking tours, exploring the elements of good travel writing. There will be time during the session to turn some of your treasured holiday memories or time living abroad into a sparkling piece of prose. This is a peregrination not to be missed, so bring your pens and paper or laptops and get creative.
